Emily Wooten Winter 2018 Blog

As my time at Kendall has been winding down to a close, it has made me reflect on my three years here, and what my future will hold after leaving Kendall. I only have two more quarters left which include the Capstone Senior Project (a big reason into why I wanted to continue in the Bachelor program here at Kendall). Without the help of the Kendall College Trust, I wouldn’t have been able to make it this far in Kendall. It is crazy to think that I will soon be graduating here with a Bachelor, and that it has already been 3 years at Kendall. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this process especially Kendall College Trust!

Looking back, even though the Associate Baking and Pastry program started me in the food industry, one of the best decisions I made was continuing in the Bachelor portion of Culinary. I learned so much through all of the classes that I could take with me into my career. This program allowed me to get a taste of Business, Hospitality, Baking and Pastry, and Culinary all in one program. I took classes that I can’t imagine not taking now before working in the industry. The most recent class like this that I took in the Winter quarter was Menu to Plate Concepts with Chef Elaine Sikorski. The amount of information and insider tips we learned in how to open a new restaurant or be an executive chef blew my mind. The class and Chef Elaine filled in all of the missing bits that I needed to successfully jumpstart my career.

Going through the Culinary Bachelor program has been the best decision I have made, and I couldn’t thank Kendall College Trust enough for supporting me through this. They helped make it possible for me to continue to grow as a young chef and help jumpstart me through my career.
