Natalie Sorensen Winter 2020 Blog

by Natalie Sorensen, March 21, 2020

During this winter term I had an amazing opportunity to continue growing my personal business. I am the owner of Natalie Marie’s Private Events and Catering. I catered an event for 125 people for a private client. I worked with her over the span of three months ordering needed supplies, formulating recipes, and costing. The event was for her husband’s 50th birthday and had a fiesta theme. Our first meeting consisted of gathering ideas, asking questions about food preferences, guests lists, and décor. From there I was able to sketch ideas for hors d’oeuvres and provide tastings.

Prior to the event I spent a week preparing the needed ingredients, gathered supplies, went to wholesalers, and created flower arrangements. On the day of the event I had the help of one of my closest friends from Kendall. We also had a staff of 5 to pass out hors d’oeuvres and bartend. The event was an absolute success, and ultimately showed me that hard work does pay off. I couldn’t have done this without my technical skills acquired at Kendall, and the guidance of our amazing chefs. I am extremely thankful to have run this event; I look forward to catering future gatherings.
