Kendall College Trust Awards $200,000 in Scholarship Funds

The Scholarship Committee of the Kendall College Trust (KCT) announced that the committee awarded 32 scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year to full-time Kendall College students majoring in the culinary arts, hospitality management and business programs.

Seventy-five scholarship applicants were evaluated based on academic merits, financial need, leadership, honors and awards. Students completed an online application including an essay and submitted their resume and any letters of recommendation. Recipients received a scholarship in the range of $2,000 to $15,000 with the average award being $5,000 to cover their cost of tuition. Monies to fund these scholarships are obtained from individual donors, corporations and fundraising events.

“This scholarship season, we had so many qualified applicants to choose from, that is was extremely difficult to narrow it down. I wish we had enough funds to give them all something!” said Catherine De Orio, Executive Director

Dominique Pyka from Germany and Ashley Rigsbee from Ohio, were selected as the premier scholarship recipients. Dominique will be graduating next year with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business. Ashley will also be graduating next year with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management. The Premier Scholarship is the highest scholarship award given by the KCT. We are pleased to include all of the students amongst our esteemed group of recipients.
