The Gift of An Education

by Catherine De Orio, December 7, 2018

During the holiday season we are reminded of the many donors and supporters of the Foundation for Culinary Arts, formerly Kendall College Trust, that make the gift of an education possible. For this, we thank you. This year we celebrate our 10-year anniversary! Over the past decade we have provided nearly 2.5 million dollars in educational scholarship funds to over 500 students with financial need and have initiated a summer culinary camp program for Chicago Public high school students from underserved areas to learn vocational, as well as, vital life skills. The camp has tripled in size and is continuing to grow as it enters its fourth year. We’ve watched students like Malik Waddy move from our introductory level camp to the advanced level and now, as he prepares to graduate, he contemplates options for his continuing culinary education. Jefferson Rodriguez-Martinez, Gabi Siegfried and Chris Lowe all began as our campers and are now full-time culinary students at Kendall College. Watching our scholarship recipients move towards their career goals is both exciting and gratifying-wouldn’t you like to be a part of it?

Loyal donors like yourself play an integral part in our success as we continue to help give students the support they need to receive an education and launch them onto a successful career path. We need your help. When you write your holiday gift list, please consider a contribution to us. We are a not-for-profit, thus any donation you make to us is tax-deductible as provided by law. Remember, any amount is helpful for the continued growth of our organization and the next generation’s ability to succeed not only in the culinary and hospitality field, but in life. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to keep growing our Culinary Camp. Please click here, or on the button below to donate, to help us reach that goal!

The gift of an education is invaluable; will you give again this year?

On behalf of the board, staff and our scholarship recipients, we thank you for making a difference every year. We wish you a wonderful and safe holiday season and I look forward to keeping you updated on the exciting developments in the new year!
