Emily Wooten Summer 2016 Blog Post

Coming to Kendall College has really furthered my passion for my career field. I am a Baking and Pastry student, and I am a little over halfway through my Associates program before I move onto the Bachelor’s program. Before coming here, I had dabbled in baking and extensively started working with decorating cakes. When I started at Kendall, I made sure to keep an open mind about all aspects of the baking and pastry world because I might find that I like something better than decorating cakes. Now that I am nearing the end of this program I have found many things that I am very interested in and could happily do for the rest of my life, but when I recently started the class Wedding Cakes and Gum paste, I instantly fell in love with decorating cakes all over again. Through Kendall College, I have been able to find what makes me happiest in the world. I have just finished this class and I cannot contain the excitement I feel for my future, now knowing for sure that this is what I want to contribute to the world. I am thrilled to share this new development here at Kendall College, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the Bachelor’s program thanks to the Kendall College Trust.
Below is the wedding cake I produced for my final and some close-ups of the gum paste flower decorations:
