Valentina Burgos Ochoa Summer 2021 Blog

The past months have not been easy for anybody, as every part of the world has been affected by Covid. The hospitality industry went through one of the most challenging process. Still, I want to believe that every difficulty in our lives gives us the best lessons.
Resilience is one of the most critical abilities that drive my life, as this is the ability to adapt in the face of adversity and recover from it. The hospitality industry, including restaurants, hotels, and event planning companies, are the best example of this ability. These have been a challenging process for them, but they have shown us that we learn the most valuable lessons from adversity and grow and improve from it.
It is inspiring to see all different owners coming together, opening back with better strategies, supporting each other, and becoming stronger than ever.
Even though it has been challenging, I am grateful that I have the opportunity to have these difficulties as an example, as this helped me push myself out of my comfort zone and become a better professional every day. On the other hand, the global economic crisis that has been further fueled by the pandemic made me rethink if I was ready to open my own business. My answer is yes; this situation motivates me to keep my entrepreneurial vision and use it to help others in my industry. I consider my career at Kendall College is my process to acquire and improve my abilities, and to materialize my ideas. It also gives me the ability to propose my business plan and discuss it with my professors, make corrections, and to be able to offer the best of me and transpose it into what I am passionate about, which is hospitality.
